North Cascades you are incredible! ———————————————————————— I’m sad I only had a few days to experience this rugged untouched landscape. You gave me one heck of an experience with your gorgeous fall colors and classic PNW weather (🌧👍🏻) but unfortunately the show must go on, there are two more amazing parks to see. Off to Olympic National Park w/ @jess.does.things, 🐶Ned, and my #lego Park Ranger.✌🏻 . . . #northcascades
Hidden Lake, North Cascades National Park. ——————————————— This 10 mile hike in North Cascades is absolutely gorgeous. The trail conditions were a bit dicey since it’s the shoulder season and winter is soon to be upon us. @jess.does.things and I traversed the snow, ice and mud all while climbing 3,400 feet in elevation but the view at the end was utterly jaw dropping. It’s been a rainy day today, classic PNW, so I’m very blessed to have such a stunner of a day on the trails yesterday. It’s a good day for coffee and WiFi 😘☕️ Off to Olympic National ...
Got to see all the colors of Fall & Winter in one day up at the North Cascades this weekend 👉🏼🍁❄️ I try to make it up here at least once a year, because there’s no better place to see the Fall colors IMO🙌🏼 We caught a rainy sunrise at Diablo Lake and went on to attempt hike to Blue Lake where we were met with SNOW 20 minutes before reaching the trailhead🙈 Turned that car right around and spent the rest of the day exploring the little towns off of HWY 20😂 Needless to say, not much of it ...

Driving back across the Midwest today. Been going hard for over two months now. I put my heart into this trip. I’m tired as hell, but happy and content with where I’ve been. . I’m looking forward to getting back home to the Hudson Valley just in time for fall. I’m excited to just post up with some coffee at the Diner for a while and recover. I’ll probably reflect a little on the places I’ve been too. Thankful for it all. . (Photo: North Cascades.)
I take a #backpacking trip every September and/or October. It's arguably the best time of year in the #mountains and fewer people and bugs, cooler temps, often good weather. And I've done it in places people don't think about going at this time of year, like this 80-mile hike through in the last week of September. I share some favorite trips in my story "10 Awesome Fall Backpacking Trips," which I just posted at my blog (link in bio).
The teal water in Diablo Lake was something else... Spent a great three nights camping in the North Cascades, definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! Gonna have some more awesome views up soon.
